Certificate of Need (CON) and licensure standards are two powerful tools that state health departments use to improve access to health care services and improve the quality of care delivered at health care facilities.
This session will present specific case examples of how the CON program in Rhode Island enhanced access to health care services to the inhabitants of Rhode Island. The session will also highlight specific examples of how certain tertiary health care services were regulated through the development and promulgation of licensure standards in order to better ensure a quality delivery of health care services.
