Issues: In 2003, an estimated 3,897 young people in the United States (ages 13 to 24) received a diagnosis of HIV/AIDS, which represents 12% of the persons given a diagnosis during that year. To address this concern, Together Learning Choices (TLC) is a proven effective intervention for young people living with HIV (ages 13-29). TLC train-the-trainer trainings (TOTs) serve to provide a cadre of trainings for community-based organizations to have more direct access to trainings to fully understand the complexities of implementation. Many community-based organizations (CBOs) have high staff attrition, which causes a constant need for training. The TOTs serve to counterbalance the flux of staff at community-based organizations. Description: TLC TOTs are divided into two 5-day modules: Staying Healthy and Acting Safe. The TOT consists of training techniques and methods. In order to become a certified trainer, training participants have to teach sections of the facilitator training curriculum to a review panel. Lessons Learned: TOTs present an efficient and structured process for training trainers for TLC who will provide agencies appropriate support implementing TLC. The certification process acts as quality assurance so trainers will have the appropriate qualifications to build capacity in the local agencies. This method of capacity building also expands the resources that agencies have available to improve their services. Recommendations: - Continue to have TOTs as one method to facilitate capacity-building of TLC - Make sure that appropriate people are attending the TOTs

Learning Objectives: At the conclusion of the session, the participant (learner) in this session will be able to
