This presentation will define some working parameters for collaboration between industry, government, and the non-profit sector. A case study will be used to show the potential public health benefits of such a collaboration, and specific methods that can be implemented to instill the trust necessary to make such a collaboration work. The case study will focus on a successful collaboration to identify the potential public health impacts of different medical waste treatment options.

Learning Objectives: At the conclusion of the session, the participant (learner) in this session will be able to

• Describe an effective case study of collaboration between industry, government and NGOs to that protected public health.
• Articulate how a precautionary approach can be implemented by industry to protect public health.
