The purpose of this poster presentation will be to describe the outcome results of the Tanzania Intergenerational Health Chapter Project. The goal of the project was to establish a grassroots community intervention model in the form of an intergenerational health chapter in the region of Tanzania East Africa that would be able to address health disparities in that region. Through the collaborative efforts of government officials and community residents the Tanzania intergenerational health chapter of East Africa was created to empower young and older adults in these communities to work together to find solutions to their health care needs The health chapters provide residents of Tanzania with the resources, education, and training necessary to develop partnerships with community based organizations that will help them raise health awareness and assist them in the building of a more supportive responsive community health system, that will benefit all through the improvement of disease prevention and increased access to preventive health care services The implementation of this project clearly demonstrates how intergenerational collaborative cooperation between younger and older adults can be successfully utilized to address key community health issues and improve the overall quality of life of individuals living in poor underserved communities of diversity.
