The post-graduate fellowship program at New York Chiropractic College was established in 2002, with the goal of attracting motivated doctors to contribute to the advancement of education, practice and research in chiropractic. Each fellow is associated with a College program and department as a classroom or clinical instructor, but also is supported in pursuit of a specified graduate degree in a nearby college or university. The degree programs have ranged from master's degrees in public health, neuroscience, college science teaching, instructional design and development, and exercise science to Executive MBA and PhD in epidemiology. (A listing of complete fellowship offerings will be provided.)
The investment in graduate program education has garnered great rewards for both fellows and the institution. Fellows have contributed to the advancement of chiropractic education and research. These contributions have included teaching innovations such as on-line quizzes and webquests, new opportunities for interns such as a clinic on a major university campus and significant basic science and clinical research.
Recent completed fellows have gone on to posts in the Veteran's Administration, the chiropractic department in a city hospital and private practice with a specialty in electrodiagnosis.
The program now also offers post-graduate opportunities licensed acupuncturists in the area of health care management.
