Building broad-based community partnerships and collaborations are fundamental first steps in addressing health inequity. Strong partnerships can create a forum for the development of innovative and informed programs that resonate with local residents and engage large sectors of the community. As such, local public health organizations must engage in processes that assist communities in leveraging these partnerships for strategic planning. This session will demonstrate how the community-based, strategic planning Mobilizing for Action through Planning and Partnerships (MAPP) process has enabled communities to identify factors that have led to health inequities, and the strategies developed to address them.
