A Structural Classification of Measurement Bias

Errors in the measurement of exposure or outcome will generally result in biased estimates of the causal effect of exposure on outcome. This talk will use causal DAGs to represent measurement bias and to classify it according to the structural properties of the measurement errors of exposure and outcome. The talk will conclude by reviewing the conditions under which instrumental variables can be used to adjust for measurement bias.
