The questions of what constitutes human rights violation must be constantly raised by professionals in the health are systems. Are human rights violations only those that reverberate in the media? The Tuskegee Syphilis study is the frequently quoted human violations in the United States health care delivery system. But, are the continued staggering morbidity and mortality rates in racial and ethnic communities of color the result of human rights violation? This presentation will attempt to answer these questions through a critical analysis of the pervasiveness of human rights violations in the health care system in the United States. Policy and practice solutions to ameliorate human rights violations in the health care system will be offered.
