So many wrongs, what about the rights?

The world is full of human wrongs, so what is so right about human rights? In this session participants will be given a primer on health and human rights. This will include a brief introduction to the international human rights system and the major international human rights documents that include the right to health. The pioneering work of Jonathan Mann is developing a theoretical base for health and human rights will be presented. Recent developments to the international system supporting the right to health, such as the appointment of a Special Rapporteur on the Right to Health and the development of principles for “rights based approaches” for health will be presented.
