Hurricane Katrina caused widespread and serious adverse effects to the population of New Orleans and to the public health infrastructure. As a follow-up to presentations made at last year's Annual Meeting, this presentation will focus on progress that has been made since then and continuing challenges as they affect such areas as preventive health services, medical care, environmental health, and housing.

Learning Objectives: By the end of this presentation, attendees will be able to

• Describe the ongoing public health challenges facing New Orleans in the aftermath of Hurricane Katrina.
• Describe approaches to effectively addressing these problems.
