The recently enacted Massachusetts health reform is virtually certain to fail. It asks nothing of the wealthy, will offer huge dollops of funds to private insurance firms and wealthy hospitals and will saddle working families with huge bills for skimpy, nearly worthless coverage. Single payer reform is the only alternative that will cover the uninsured, improve the coverage for most of those who currently have inadequate coverage and contain costs.
