Identifying Health Risks Impacting Refugees, Immigrants and Victims of Human Trafficking
The papers in this session cover a wide range of topics, including the relationship between domestic violence and sex selection through abortion; the relationship between exposure to political violence and subsequent intimate partner violence; the response through community task forces to domestic and sexual violence on the U.S./Mexico border; the relationship between trafficking minors into India and HIV transmission and the health risks facing North Korean refugees and trafficking victims entering China.
Learning Objectives: At the conclusion of the session, the participant (learner) will be able to: 1. analyze the exposure of refugees, immigrants and victims of human trafficking to political and domestic violence; 2. describe the mental and physical health impacts of such violence; 3. identify challenges to effective program interventions.
