Oral | |||
| |||
This interesting session will focus on environmental epidemiology with presentations from outside the United States. These presentations will include: arsenic in Bangladesh, socioeconomic status and acute myocardial infarction in Australia, nitrogen oxides and acute health effects in emergency rooms in Israel, quarry operations and community health effects in Puerto Rico, global burden of disease in Brazil, and indoor coal burning and fluorosis in China.
Learning Objectives: At the conclusion of the session, the participant (learner) in this session will be able to: 1. Understand the potential nutritional prevention of arsenic-related health outcomes 2. Recognize factors influencing the spatial distribution of diseases like ischemic heart disease 3. Cite methods for the study of the association between ambient nitrogen oxide levels and acute health outcomes 4. List the conditions/symptoms that affect the community of Guayabal where quarries are located 5. Understand major aspects of global burden of disease studies 6. Describe the factors associated with child skeletal fluorosis
