What's Happening at the Boston Public Health Commission?
The Epidemiology Section is pleased to showcase the work done by the Boston Public Health Commission. Specific topics that will be covered include a pertussis outbreak in a family shelter, collaboration of different community partners to address a Hepatitis A outbreak, disease surveillance in Boston biologic research laboratories, and using telephone surveys to assess health in Boston public housing residents.
Learning Objectives: At the conclusion of the session, the participant (learner) in this session will be able to: 1. Describe four public health interventions to control a pertussis outbreak in a family shelter 2. Describe the epidemiology of Hepatitis A in Boston during the 2004 outbreak 3. Describe the components of the medical surveillance program for boston's infectious disease research laboratories4. Identify differences and similarities in health status, access and utilization, and health behaviors beetween public housing residents and other community residents
