Topics to be discussed will include health risk behaviors for deaf and hard-of-hearing students, participatory community health research and the concept of co-learning between community and academic partners, active consent in school-based health research, and methodologic issues related to understanding the association between physical activity and ovarian cancer. | |||
Learning Objectives: At the conclusion of the session, the participant (learner) in this session will be able to: 1. Discuss the importance of considering language difference in the answer patterns of deaf and hard-of-hearing college students compared to their hearing counterparts 2. REcognize the potential conflict between risk perception and health risks as determined by population-based case-control studies 3. Describe the increased necessity for an active consent process in school-based health research 4.
