The importance of meeting the diverse health needs of all children is the focus of this session. The needs of teachers of children of poverty, specific curriculum focus and materials for effective sexuality education of latino/a youth, tobacco prevention programming specific for deaf/hard of hearing youth as well as improving academic success through physical fitness will be presented. | |||
Learning Objectives: At the conclusion of the session, the participant (learner) in this session will be able to: 1. Recognize the importance of educating educators regarding accessible community health resources to increase the academic achievement and health of children of poverty. 2. Become familiar with an innovative curriculum developed to work with deaf/hard of hearing youth. 3.Understand the positive relationship between fitness and academic achievement. 4.Understand the importance of providing culturally appropriate sexuality education to latino/a students. | |||
