Approximately 2 million people in the United States are incarcerated. Many people entering correctional facilities have a history of substance use and risky sexual behavior. Furthermore, incarcerated person are more at- risk for violation of their health and human rights. This session will explore these issues and offer suggestions for addressing health and human rights violations of the incarcerated population. Several efforts to overcome this heath and human burden will be introduced and discussed. | |||
Learning Objectives: At the conclusion of this session, participants will be able to: 1. Identify important policy needs for addressing health and human right of the incarcerated. 2. Distinguish between successful and unsuccessful social service strategies. | |||
