The Pandemic Potential Of Emerging And Re-emerging Zoonotic Diseases: challenges for recognition, monitoring and control
Emerging and re-emerging zoonotic disease present many challenges for recognition, monitoring and control in today's highly mobile world society. Better understanding of the nature of these diseases and methods to address them is essential to minimize the impact they will have on the health and economies of many nations throughout the world.
Learning Objectives: At the conclusion of the session, the participant (learner) in this session will be able to: 1. List four concepts related to recognition and control of zoonotic or emerging infections. 2. Articulate the key factors in the epidemiology of Avian Influenza in pigs. 3. Describe methods for monitoring and responding to zoonotic disease at border crossings.
