Using examples, presenters from five states funded by the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) Assessment Initiative – Florida, New York, Rhode Island, Utah and Washington, will share findings of community health assessment evaluations, and describe strengths and limitations of the various evaluation methods. They will also describe a framework for evaluating community health assessments. The presenters will describe: Florida State Department of Health’s mechanisms to track changes in local capacity for planning, partnership attributes and performance indicators, part of the Comprehensive Assessment, Strategic Success (COMPASS) initiative; New York State Department of Health evaluation of the impact of community health assessments on policy, program and infrastructure; Rhode Island State Department of Health’s evaluation of the impact of a web-based data query system (WDQS); Utah State Department of Health’s follow-up research on how Indicator-Based Information System (IBIS) for Public Health is utilized at the local level; and Washington State Department of Health’s Assessment in Action (AIA) project’s tracking tool designed to identify the outcomes of local health jurisdiction’s assessment activities. | |||
