Statement of Purpose and Institute Overview:
The purpose of this Institute is to train potential users about the Reproductive Health Assessment Toolkit for Conflict-Affected Women. This Toolkit provides the tools required to collect quality data needed to improve reproductive health services among conflict-affected populations. The toolkit is composed of a questionnaire, sampling guide, training manual, data entry program, analysis guide, and suggestions for translation of data to action. Some of the topic areas included in the toolkit are safe motherhood, family planning, sexually transmitted infections/HIV and gender-based violence. This Institute will provide training on how to: Plan for implementation of the Toolkit in the users setting Conduct a population-based quantitative survey Provide an overview of training survey personnel Interpret Toolkit findings Present findings to partner organizations, community, and donors Access technical assistance from the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) The faculty for this institute developed the toolkit and pilot-tested it in among conflict-affected women in Africa, Asia, and Latin America and have lessons learned from these pilot tests that will provide valuable information to potential users.
