Ethical Issues in Public Health Practice
This session will look at the ethical challenges in public health through the lens of its practioners. The session will explore issues around freedom of speech and the internet as it pertains to children, the challenges around implications of the Tuskegee Syphilis experience on all research, and ethical issues in leading public health agencies. The goal of the session is to explore the various trade offs and challenges practioners face in ensuring human rights is preserved in the practice of public health.
Learning Objectives: At the conclusion of this session the participants will be able to discuss ethical issues in public health practice such as: The trade offs between freedom of speech in the era of electronic communication. The concerns and issues around conducting ethical research. Issues in providing ethical leadership of public health agencies.
