Conference on Emeritus Members Session: The History of Emerging Zoonoses with emphasis on Mammalian and Avian Influenzas
This session will give an overview of the globalization of veterinary public health in America from 1945 to 2005. There will be specific information about urban rabies, encephalitis, brucellosis, animal TB, foot and mouth disease, and parasitic diseases especially tapeworms of cattle, pigs and hydatid diseases of dogs. The cost of addressing these conditions and other implications will also be addressed.
Learning Objectives: Audience would learn where diseases come from especially the origin of human diseases in animals, including their maintenance in nature plus their propensity and mechanics of inter-species transfer.
