Black women in South Africa are among the most vulnerable groups in the world: not only because of disproportionate rates of HIV infection, but also because of the additional stresses of economics, trauma, and disempowerment. This panel will discuss the latest findings in this area, as well as define moderating factors to these stressors.
Learning Objectives: At the conclusion of the session, the participant (learner) in this session will be able to: 1. Understand the specific co-occurring mental health and social concerns of Black South African women living with HIV. 2. Define and evaluate the importance of co-existing pressures and stressors in addition to HIV experiences by Black South African women.
