Once an individual has been diagnosed with HIV, engagement in HIV/AIDS care is a crucial next step. However, multiple barriers exist that keep seropositive individuals from either engaging in care, or consistently remaining in care. Practitioners in this field will learn the nature of many of these barriers, as well as strategies for client retainment.
Learning Objectives: At the conclusion of the session, the participant (learner) in this session will be able to: 1. Define barriers to accessing HIV/AIDS care for communities in multiple settings. 2. Prioritize barriers to accessing HIV/AIDS care in order to retain participants in HIV care programming.
