Implications for Reaching Your Audience with Cancer Communication
Health promotion and education campaigns designed to provide information about cancer prevention and control contain important information, but if they are not designed appropriately for the audiences they address, they will fail. The panelists in this session will describe several different programs for particular communities, and the challenges and lessons learned from these programs. Speakers will highlight issues in communication with Canadian Aboriginal women, cancer survivors, hematologic cancer patients and their families and caregivers.
Learning Objectives: At the conclusion of the session, the participant (learner) in this session will be able to: 1.Recognize the importance of culturally sensitive, cancer communication resources. 2.Describe differences in cancer survivors’ perceptions of participation in care. 3.Describe strategies for tailoring cancer communications.
