Low health literacy is linked to poor health outcomes and contributes to health disparities. Speakers in this session will describe several programs that are designed to aid individuals with low health literacy in achieving better health. The session will include discussion of how websites can be used to ameliorate health literacy issues. | |||
Learning Objectives: At the conclusion of the session, the participant (learner) in this session will be able to: 1. Articulate strategies for creating lower literacy websites and understandable health information in Spanish for websites. 2. Identify the barriers to accessing care among individuals with low health literacy skills 3. Identify the advantages of using interactive, multimedia technology to overcome literacy, cultural, linguistic, and attention barriers. | |||
