Katrina, Responding to a Public Health Emergency: The Event and the Aftermath
Abstracts in this session will describe: how to assess, prioritize and fund emergent needs from a natural disaster, the health care needs that presented to mobile medical units deployed to assist victims of Hurricane Katrina, the relevant factors underlying African-American's evacuation response and how to integrate GIS into all levels of research on the environmental health impacts of natural disasters.
Learning Objectives: Participants will understand how to: 1)assess, prioritize and fund emergent needs from a natural disaster; 2)describe health care needs that presented to mobile medical units deployed to assist victims of Hurricane Katrina; 3)understand the relevant factors underlying African-American's evacuation response and 4) integrate GIS into all levels of research on the environmental health impacts of natural disasters.
