Dealing with Sex in the 21st Century
This session consists of papers on sexual activity and youth. In the first and second presentations, the authors discuss the association between assets (e.g., parental income) and sexual behavior. The third presenter provides information about the relationship between youth intentions to have sex and participation in risky behaviors (e.g., hard drug use). Factors associated with unwanted sexual experiences in adolescent males is the topic of the fourth presentation. The final paper in the session is a discussion of Human Papilloma Virus (HPV) testing and screening practices.
Learning Objectives: At the conclusion of the session, the participant (learner) in this session will be able to: 1. Discuss determinants of adolescent abstinence, sexual intentions, and volitional and unwanted sexual experiences. 2. Identify factors influencing health care providers' intentions to perform HPV screening and testing and use of HPV vaccine.
