Innovative, Technology-Based Approaches to Health Education
Technology is an increasingly important instrument in the health educator’s toolkit. This session provides information about the use of innovative techniques in using technology to impart health information. The speakers in this session will describe several programs that use such technological tools such as the Internet, computer games, and wireless handheld computers. The session will also include discussion about an electronic health book developed for early primary school children.
Learning Objectives: At the conclusion of the session, the participant (learner) in this session will be able to: 1. Describe how handheld computers can be used to measure substance use and other health-related behaviors. 2. Describe how web-based interventions can be used to promote positive health behaviors in a variety of audiences. 3. Discuss the use of technology to enhance health learning in grade school students.
