Health education and health promotion activities sometimes draw on tried and true theories and sometimes develop new and innovative methods. In the first presentation, the speaker discusses how the Health Belief Model can be applied to the domain of physical activity. Another speaker describes a method designed to teach traditionally disengaged patients to formulate their own questions and engage in key health decisions. Yet another presenter discusses the tool they have developed to assess how well an organization’s physical environment combats obesity. Finally, speakers discuss trends in sunless tanning and indoor tanning trends, and personality characteristics of blood donors. | |||
Learning Objectives: At the conclusion of the session, the participant (learner) in this session will be able to: 1. Discuss innovative applications of health education techniques to a diverse set of health behaviors. 2.
