Envrironmental exposures have a direct link to human health. Involuntary exposures to certain environmental agents may increase the risk of the onset of many kinds of cancer. This will be discussed in this session along with emerging science that suggests that exposures to a number of neurotoxicants (i.e. lead, mercury, pesticides, etc.) can cause neurological problems including developmental and learning disabilities. The effect that involuntary exposure to toxic chemicals has on fertility and the onset of Parkinson's Disease will also be presented.
Learning Objectives: At the conclusion of the session, the participant (learner) in this session will be able to: Describe how environmental factors mat increase cancer risk; Discuss emerging science linking environmental chemicals and cancer; Describe environmental variables that lead to infertility; Describe how environmental factors lead to the onset of Parkinson's disease; List numerous neurotoxic chemicals that may contribute to learning and developmental disabilities.
