School Health Education and Services

Submit Abstract

The School Health Education and Services (SHES) Section of the American Public Health Association welcomes the submission of program and research abstracts related to the practice of public health in preschool, K-12 school, college, and university settings.

Contemporary topics for presentation may include:
  • Food and Nutrition
  • Health and Counseling Services
  • Injury and Violence Prevention
  • Legislation/Policy/Administration
  • Obesity prevention
  • Physical Activity, Amount of Exercise, and Fitness
  • Sexual Health
  • Substance Abuse Prevention
  • Other
Abstracts must describe actual, not anticipated findings. Please include learner-centered objectives for oral sessions to qualify for continuing education credit approval. Peer reviewers will assess the suitability of abstracts for presentation based on the following criteria:

- Significance
- Methodological soundness
- Usefulness to the field
- Overall quality

Currently-enrolled public health students are especially encouraged to submit abstracts of research work performed to satisfy academic coursework or requirements. Be sure to identify your academic program and institution. SHES will present an award for the best student research abstract.
