Patient Navigation Research Program: Models to Improve Cancer Care for Women
This session is designed to showcase models of patient navigation programs underway under the Patient Navigation Research Program sponsored by the National Cancer Institute and the American Cancer Society. Speakers will not only describe the initiative and how programs are set up at individual sites, but will describe how to accomplish a patient navigation team, how to build community support, and how to utilize social networks to assist in navigation.
Learning Objectives: 1. Describe the concept of patient navigation. 2. Discuss the importance of social networks in patient navigation. 3. Describe the team necessary to conduct and assess patient navigation. 4. Examine the community consortium building needed to build a patient navigation project.
