Veterinary Public Health

Submit Abstract

Topics covering the full spectrum of issues of veterinary public health interest and importance will be considered. The program will consist of two 90 minute sessions of 15 - 20 minute papers addressing the following recommended topics:
  • Demand for and production of organic/natural food: implications on food safety and public health
  • Emerging Infections: perspectives on zoonotic diseases in the near past and on the horizon
  • Public Health Leadership and the Veterinarian - perspectives on opportunities and preparation
  • Public Policy and the import and export of food: impacts on food safety and food security
  • Farm and Animal Worker Health
  • Psychosocial Factors And Companion Animal Care During Disasters
  • The Future of Federal Food Safety Policies and Programs (USDA and FDA versus a “Super Food Safety Agency”)
  • The Human- Animal Bond: The Benefits Of Companion Animals In Care Settings
  • The Pandemic Potential Of Emerging And Re-emerging Zoonotic Diseases: Avian Influenza, Rift Valley Fever, etc.
