The purpose of this course is to demonstrate how the development of a mentor programs can strengthen internal infrastructure and increase staff retention, satisfaction and opportunity for advancement. This course will provide participants with the knowledge, skills and tools needed to develop and implement a mentor program within their organization. The presenter will demonstrate how a successful mentor program can strengthen an organization from within by providing its staff, at all levels, with the opportunity to expand their job-related skills and institutional knowledge through increased interaction with staff from other units and departments. Participants will gain a firm understanding of how a mentor program can be used to support the development of diverse management teams and enhance succession planning efforts through ongoing skills development, cross-training opportunities and mentoring relationships. Participants will be provided with the tools and resources to implement, manage and evaluate an effective mentor program.

Upon the completion of this course, the participants will know how to use a staff mentor program as part of a comprehensive succession planning effort.
