Laurie Thomas, MPA , Tobacco Use Prevention Program, Maricopa County, Phoenix, AZ
Unlike many other states, Arizona still has 80% of the tobacco funding recommended by the CDC. Because it is relatively well funded at $25 million, it is imperative to let stakeholders know the breadth and activity of the program to keep that funding in tact.

Producing an annual report is something many organizations do as part of regulatory requirements. Why not make it a time and cost effective way of delivering a stunning message? Annual reports can be an important part of your application for grant applications, chasing funds from major donors, seeking community partners, introductions to local councils or politicians and pitching stories to the media.

The annual report is a direct extension of your organization and can be used to shape the conclusions drawn by its readers. Colorful, accurate, and clearly-focused reports contain vision, passion, and invoke strong emotions. Powerful illustrations of your organization's achievements and aspirations will convince supporters to continue funding your program.

Distribution of the annual report to a well-defined readership creates exposure that can surpass that of direct advertising in a budget-constrained environment. Reports that are energized by accomplishments and express gratitude to those who have made them possible (i.e. donors, community participants, sponsors, volunteers, etc.) shows you value community involvement.

The Maricopa County(Phoenix, AZ, pop. 3.7 million)annual report has received tremendous accolades and created untold goodwill.
