APHA has an important role to play in the upcoming debates on global climate change. As the nation's leading organization of public heatlh professionals, APHA can communicate broadly about the public health imperative to avoid catastrophic climate change, the adverse health consequences associated with changes in temperature and precipitation, and the health co-benefits of many climate change mitigation strategies. A revised resolution on global climate change and public health has been drafted and will be considered by the Governing Council at the 2007 Conference. This presentation will review the content of the resolution and its implications for future action by APHA on this issue.

Learning Objectives:
At the end of this session, learners will be able to: Discuss ways in which the APHA can play an active role in primary and secondary prevention of climate change health effects. Describe the revised APHA resolution on global climate change and public health protection
