160311 Children's Health at Your FingertipsTuesday, November 6, 2007: 9:00 AM
Focused on innovations that improve the health and wellness of children, the presenter will discuss the Early Childhood Learning and Knowledge Center (ECLKC) as an essential tool for the public health community to rapidly access critical health information on issues such as pandemic flu and emergency preparedness as well as evidenced-based practices. Also, the presenter will describe effective search strategies to identify topical content using the ECLKC, which also can be applied for other web sites. The Office of Head Start, with the intent to support young children and their families, has developed the ECLKC to provide access to quality information and resources that include childhood health and wellness as one of the major targets.
Attendees will have the opportunity to explore resources, information, and services across the broad range of topics relevant to quality early childhood health and wellness. Upon completion of this session, participants are expected to identify different resources on the ECLKC; to use its basic navigation features; and to describe ways it can be useful for their specific needs. Ultimately, the participants will learn to effectively use the ECLKC to meet their unique needs for expert knowledge on health and wellness related to young children and their families, particularly those with low incomes.
