Media and technology are increasingly part of children's daily lives and present new opportunities to engage and educate them about healthy lifestyles, particularly healthy eating and physical activity. To gain multidisciplinary insight into promising and innovative health education methods, the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services, Office of Disease Prevention and Health Promotion brought together experts from education, healthcare, academia, public health, marketing, media and technology, nutrition and physical activity, to consider trends among today's youth (8-13 year olds), use of media and technology, innovative communications efforts linked to health behavior theories, evidence for effective efforts and replicating them for success. This session will highlight the workshop findings with an emphasis on multi-disciplinary perspectives and collaboration, the integration of media/technology, real life implications and some of the innovative programs featured. A report on the workshop can be provided to attendees.

Learning Objectives:
1. Increase awareness of the role of media and technology in reaching and appealing to today’s youth. 2. Learn about key elements of programs to consider for successfully engaging students in physical activity and nutrition programs. 3. How to bridge gaps in current approaches and consider a new paradigm of collaboration.
