A collaboration between Minnesota's seven major health plans and ClearWay Minnesota resulted in a strategy to enhance LGBT service through the state tobacco quitlines. This presentation will review the lessons learned from this multistep process, including: cognitive testing and implementation of a new LGBT question on the quitline; review and adaptation of LGBT outreach materials for use in Minnesota; implementation of an outreach plan based upon that work; and providing cultural competency training to quitline staff. Data on the impact of this outreach as measured through number of LGBT quitline callers will be presented, as will findings on impact shared by community allies and partners. This work is being done within a larger context of tobacco health disparity elimination across several disproportionately impacted communities which will be described. The synergy created by this joint work provides an excellent model for replication in other states.

Learning Objectives:
1. Articulate the important steps in creating tobacco quitline services tailored to LGBTs. 2. Describe findings from cognitive testing of LGBT quitline question. 3. Prioritize LGBT community outreach methods. 4. Assess the factors that lead to cultural competency among quitline providers.
