Using the impacts and outcomes identified in the Strategic Framework for improving racial/ethnic minority health and eliminating racial/ethnic health disparities, a systematic process was undertaken to identify and select performance measures for such impacts/outcomes. This presentation describes this process for identifying and selecting performance measures from authoritative data sets relevant to health, minority health, and health disparities; creating and recommending developmental measures for which data sources need to be refined or developed; using a subset of these measures to guide the work of the Federal Office of Minority Health and its partners; and informing further research and evaluation where adequate and appropriate indicators of desired impacts and outcomes are not yet available.

Learning Objectives:
Describe how the Strategic Framework provides the foundation for development of performance measures relevant to health, racial/ethnic minority health, and racial/ethnic health disparities at the individual, environment/community, and systems levels Identify at least 6 authoritative data sets used in the systematic identification of performance measures for minority health improvement and health disparities reduction and criteria for their selection Discuss the limitations of the measurable and developmental performance measures being developed and used, and their implications for further research and evaluation
