165838 Diabetes Statistics from the CMS Chronic Condition Data WarehouseMonday, November 5, 2007: 5:26 PM
Wendy Funk is the Project Director for a Kennell-RTI-IFMC project to evaluate and promote CMS's new Medicare Chronic Condition Data Warehouse (CCW). She is also an expert SAS programmer with extensive experience in programming with extremely large data sets.
This session will present a summary of diabetes statistics produced from the CCW data files through a CMS-sponsored project. Ms. Funk will present a variety of statistics, including cost and utilization, quality of care, and outcomes measures. She will describe methodological approaches to calculating various beneficiary-level statistics, file format of available statistics, and key issues to consider when aggregating these statistics. The presentation will highlight some of the advantages to using the CCW data files and their usefulness in exploring chronic disease (and associated costs) among Medicare fee-for-service beneficiaries.
