The purpose of the first half of the presentation is to describe the Healthcare Cost and Utilizations Project (HCUP) with a focus on the State Inpatient Data bases (SID). Participants will learn how HCUP resources can be applied to their research interests.

List the specific HCUP databases and identify ways in which the databases have been used in research.
