James Moises, MD , Clinical Associate Professor of Emergency Medicine and Neuroscience, Tulane University, New Orleans, LA
Dr. James Moises, Emergency Department, Charity Hospital, New Orleans, will describe how the media covered the plight of Charity Hospital patients in the immediate aftermath of the hurricane. Dr. Moises will review the consequences of the shuttering of Charity to the population, the other hospitals in the area, as well as the changing teaching/research roles for students and medical education.

Learning Objectives:
Describe the current situation of safety-net healthcare in New Orleans as it relates to Charity Hospital. Discuss the forces at work influencing Charity Hospital’s future.
