The purpose of this topic is to stimulate discussion on the policy and practice applications of a study entitled "Cultural concepts of cancer mammography access and adherence". This study highlights the complementary role of health insurance and non-biomedical concepts and the fact that factors that influence adherence may be different from those that influence uptake.

Learning Objectives:
Discuss implications for cultural competence and sensitive care and training of providers. Discuss how the study findings apply to screening policy.
