Erik Olsen , AARP, Washington, DC, DC
Now is the time for health care reform in our country. Too many people, for too long have not been able to access health care. The United States is the only developed country in the world without a national health program. It shows. We spend a much higher percentage of our domestic national product on health care than any other country in the world, yet over 45 million Americans do not have health insurance.

We need a bipartisan approach to health care reform that is universal, high quality, reasonable cost and prevention oriented. As part of the 2008 Presidential and Congressional election process, health care reform should be at the top of the list for all candidates. AARP has initiated a public outreach program called “Divided We Fail” to work with all Americans including its' 39 million members to help make both financial and health care security a reality in the near future. Now is the time for all of us to put aside our differences and see where we can work together for the good of the American people.
