Biographical Sketch:
Huiyun Xiang currently is an associate professor at the Department of Pediatrics, College of Medicine, Ohio State University. He is the Associate Director for Professional Development and the Director for International Programs at the Center for Injury Research and Policy, Research Institute at the Nationwide Children’s Hospital. He received his MD and MPH from Tongji Medical College, the People’s Republic of China. Dr. Xiang attended the Colorado State University and received his PhD in injury epidemiology. He then worked as the Vital Statistics Unit Director at the Colorado Department of Public Health and Environment from 1999 to 2003. Huiyun Xiang is currently the study section member of CDC/NIOSH, committee member of Nationwide Children’s intramural grant reviewing panel, and member of Healthy Ohio Advisory Council etc. He is an editorial board member of Injury Prevention and one of associate editors of BMC Public Health. Dr. Xiang’s research projects include injuries and safety among individuals with disability and work-related injuries among immigrant workers. He has published more than 90 peer-reviewed journal articles. In March 2009, Huiyun Xiang received an extraordinary service award from the national Society for Advancement in Violence and Injury Research.
