Biographical Sketch: Chris Larrison, Ph.D. is an associate professor at the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign School of Social Work. He has over 20 years of professional and research experience with community-based agencies providing services for mental illness, primary health care, and community development. Much of his research has occurred in rural and semi-rural settings, focused on minority populations, and utilized mixed methods. Recently, he completed an NIMH funded project that involved over 800 clients receiving services at semi-rural community mental health agencies located across two states. He has also served as the research director for the 3-year $1.5 million Georgia Welfare Reform Project, which included the collection of intensive field data longitudinally from a random sample of over 200 individuals located across the state of Georgia and conducted fieldwork in rural Mexico that included a sample of 700 individuals spread across 22 remote villages.
