Biographical Sketch:
Lori Uscher Pines (PhD, Health Policy and Management, Johns Hopkins Bloomberg School of Public Health, 2008) is an Associate Policy Researcher with the RAND Corporation. Her research interests include public health preparedness, maternal and child health, vaccine policy, and vulnerable populations. Prior to obtaining her doctoral degree, she attended the London School of Economics and received an MSc in International Relations/Security Studies. Before coming to RAND, Lori completed a post-doctoral fellowship at Johns Hopkins University, National Center for Preparedness and Catastrophic Event Response. Her post-doctoral research explored the role of syndromic surveillance in outbreak response. She also served as an adjunct faculty member in public health at Temple University. While pursuing her doctoral degree, she worked at the Philadelphia and New Jersey Departments of Public Health, where she specialized in pandemic influenza planning and crisis communications.
