Biographical Sketch: Dennis McCarty, PhD, is a Professor in the Department of Public Health & Preventive Medicine at Oregon Health & Science University. He collaborates with policy makers in state and federal government and with community based programs to examine the organization, financing, and quality of addiction prevention and treatment services. He is the Principal Investigator for the Oregon/Hawaii Node of the National Drug Abuse Treatment Clinical Trials Network, the national evaluation for the Network for the Improvement of Addiction Treatment, and Advancing Recovery (co-Principal Investigator). Between 1989 and 1995, Dr. McCarty directed the Massachusetts Bureau of Substance Abuse Services for the Massachusetts Department of Public Health. His PhD in Social Psychology is from the University of Kentucky.
